Safari Overview

Embark on a classic 7-day private camping safari with Tanzania Safari Bug, exploring the renowned parks of Tanzania’s Northern Circuit. Experience the wonders of Tarangire National Park, famed for its iconic baobab trees, and discover the scenic beauty of Lake Manyara National Park, home to tree-climbing lions. Be captivated by the vast, endless grasslands of the Serengeti, and marvel at the breathtaking Ngorongoro Crater, which boasts a high concentration of wildlife.

This safari encompasses all the major parks in Northern Tanzania and is available year-round, making it perfect for nature enthusiasts, couples, families, and friends traveling together. For photographers, we recommend adding extra nights to explore the parks in greater depth and capture their stunning landscapes and wildlife.

Additionally, we can customize your safari to focus on the Great Wildebeest Migration, an awe-inspiring natural phenomenon as millions of animals move across Serengeti National Park in search of fresh grazing grounds and water.

  • Bottled mineral water in the vehicle while on safari.
  • Pick up and drop off at Kilimanjaro (JRO) or Arusha Airport.
  • Accommodation and meals per the itinerary (B=breakfast, L=lunch, D=dinner).
  • Dinner on day 1, breakfast, lunch and dinner on day 2-6 and breakfast and lunch on day 7 of your trip.
  • A camping safari: camping gear like tents, camping mattresses, sleeping bags, pillows, camping chairs, etc.
  • Game drives, Concession fees, Accommodation, All park entry fees, Government tax 18% VAT on tour fees and Service which cost nearly 100% of the total cost.
  • Pre and after safari accommodation at the hotel, 2 nights at Standard to Mid range hotel/lodge/resort in Arusha with bed & breakfast (B&B) Meal.
  • Transport in a 4×4 safari vehicle from your hotel in Arusha to the parks and back (other pick-up points possible, please contact us for the right price)
  • Ground transportation in a 8 setter or 6 setter 4x4 Safari vehicle with English Speaking Driver guide: -
  • 6 setter Safari vehicle has 4 windows seats (in the passenger cabin) and 1 window seat next to the driver (in front)
  • Accommodation of your choice: from budget camping to staying in luxurious lodges. In case of hotels/lodge/tented Camps, we can arrange it for you(the prices mentioned above are for overnight stays in Public Campsite according to the program, other prices are applicable for the other accommodation options).

  • Meals not listed above. eg Breakfast and Lunch on the first day, Dinner on the last day.
  • Tanzania Visa cost which is 50% except for Canadian and USA passport holders which is US$100.
  • International and Domestic Flights and departure taxes (Quoted separately where applicable)
  • Optional activities and excursions (short safari/tour after your Safari can be arranged upon request at an extra cost).
  • Ngorongoro | Ndutu balloon ride, per person Adult (Above 16yrs) $580, Child (7-16yrs) $530 {20th Dec - 31st March} Daily launch at dawn (6:30am) returning approx. 9:45am.
  • Serengeti balloon ride, per person Adult (Above 16yrs) $599, Child (7-16yrs) $545. {Central All year round, Western 15th May - 30th Oct, and North 15th June - 15th Jan} Daily launch at dawn (6:30am) returning approx. 9:45am.
  • Flights or other transport to Arusha. We can however arrange airport pickup for you. Let us know your itinerary and we’ll make it happen!
  • Tips for the crew. We recommend a tip of 25 USD per day for your guide, and 15 USD per day for your cook, to be divided between each member of your group.
  • Serengeti Black Rhinos Project (Moru Kopjes) fees: US$ 100 + 35US$ (VAT18% & other fees) Per Person Per Day (Option, If you need).
  • A supplement of US $ 35.00 per person will apply to all bookings between Friday 3rd and Monday 6th April (for all 4 days) as Easter holiday surcharge.
Itinerary

Day 1PRE: Arrival and pick-up in Arusha

 

Day 2Drive to Tarangire National Park

We’ll collect you from your accommodation in Arusha and embark on a scenic 4-hour drive to the captivating Tarangire National Park. Your introduction to the magic of safari life begins with an exhilarating game drive through the park’s expansive, untamed wilderness. As you traverse this remarkable haven, you’ll be awestruck by its unspoiled beauty, famed for hosting majestic herds of elephants and ancient, towering baobab trees that dominate the landscape like sentinels of time.

As the sun sets, painting the sky with hues of amber and gold, you’ll retreat to the serenity of Tarangire Public Campsite or the more secluded Tarangire Special Campsite, where a delicious dinner and a night under the starlit African sky await.

Day 3Drive to Lake Manyara National Park

Depart from the enchanting Tarangire National Park and journey to the picturesque Lake Manyara, a jewel nestled beneath the towering Great Rift Valley escarpment. Upon arrival, embark on a mesmerizing game drive, weaving through the park’s lush landscapes and along the shimmering lake shores, renowned for their vibrant flocks of flamingos that paint the waters in hues of pink.

As the day winds down, ascend to your overnight campsite perched gracefully on the edge of the Mto wa Mbu escarpment, offering sweeping views of the valley below. Savor a delectable dinner and unwind under the starlit skies at the charming Lake Manyara Twiga Campsite, where nature’s serenity wraps around you.

Day 4Drive to Serengeti National Park

After a delightful breakfast, set out for the legendary Serengeti Plains, Tanzania’s crown jewel and one of the world’s most iconic wilderness areas. Following a hearty lunch, embark on an unforgettable journey through the plains, tracing the path of the Seronera River Valley. This wildlife-rich haven, teeming with life throughout the year, leads you to Seronera, an enchanting region nestled high on a tree-clad ridge. Here, panoramic vistas unfold, revealing the boundless, rolling savannahs and rugged volcanic outcrops that define the Serengeti’s breathtaking landscape.

As the day draws to a close, retreat to the serene Serengeti Seronera Public Campsite, where a delectable dinner and a peaceful night under the glittering canopy of the African sky await.

Day 5Full day in Serengeti National Park

The Serengeti is world-renowned for the awe-inspiring Great Migration, a breathtaking spectacle as millions of animals traverse its vast savannah plains in an eternal quest for survival. Embark on exhilarating game drives, where you’ll encounter majestic predators such as leopards, lions, and cheetahs, alongside a host of other captivating wildlife.

The following day, dedicate yourself entirely to exploring the wonders of the Serengeti. Immerse yourself in the untamed beauty of this iconic landscape, pausing for a serene picnic lunch beneath the shade of a picturesque acacia tree. As the day concludes, savor a hearty dinner and enjoy a tranquil overnight stay at the Serengeti Seronera Public Campsite, surrounded by the enchanting sounds of the African wilderness.

Day 6Enroute to Ngorongoro

After breakfast, embark on a journey toward the majestic Ngorongoro Conservation Area, with an enriching stop at the world-famous Olduvai Gorge, often referred to as the “Cradle of Mankind.” Here, you’ll delve into history at the site where Mary and Louis Leakey unearthed the fossilized remains of humanity’s earliest ancestors, a profound connection to our shared past.

Continue onward to Ngorongoro, arriving at a lodge perched on the rim of the awe-inspiring crater. From this vantage point, enjoy unparalleled views of the caldera, its sweeping landscapes teeming with life below. As evening falls, indulge in a delightful dinner and settle in for a restful night at the Ngorongoro Simba Public Campsite or the exclusive Ngorongoro Special Campsite, surrounded by the tranquility of this natural wonder.

Day 7POST: Ngorongoro Crater Tour (5 hours) and back to Arusha

At dawn, descend into the mesmerizing Ngorongoro Crater, embarking on an early morning game drive through this natural sanctuary often hailed as the Eighth Wonder of the World. Home to approximately 25,000 animals, the crater’s fertile floor offers an unparalleled opportunity to witness Africa’s Big Five—rhinoceros, elephant, lion, buffalo, and leopard—alongside a dazzling array of other iconic wildlife species that roam its verdant plains.

As the day unfolds and your adventure reaches its crescendo, bid farewell to this extraordinary haven and journey back to Arusha, cherishing the unforgettable memories of your safari.
